What is it about?

This paper describes a patient who sustained injury to PABCN as a complication of surgery for severe lateral epicondylitis, leading to painful paresthesia in the dorsal aspect of forearm. No sensory nerve action potential could be recorded over the PABCN on the side of injury.

Why is it important?

PABCN should be identified and protected during surgery for lateral epicondylitis so that perioperative injury can be avoided.

Perspectives

The actual incidence of iatrogenic injury to PABCN is unknown. This paper hopefully will increase awareness of this complication.
