What is it about?

This article is about a way to determine, before turning the MRI on at full power, if an MRI exam will be safe for a specific patient with a metallic device inside.

Why is it important?

This work is new in that it provides a quantitative measure of the safety of a certain scan. Previous work had only served to test if a metallic object was coupled to the MRI at all, but failed to distinguish between safe and dangerous coupling levels.
