What is it about?
We describe a procedure carried out every day on each of the proton beam therapy (PBT) gantries before start of patient treatments that give us the highest degree of confidence, that it is safe to treat patients that day. It takes radiation therapist approximately 10 minutes each day to carry out this procedure.

Why is it important?
PBT gantries are a scarce resource. Time spent in the PBT gantries for daily QA cannot be used for patient treatments.
