What is it about?
We measure beam timing parameters by measuring total beam delivery time for judicially chosen test patterns. We then use these beam timing parameters to predict beam delivery time in a clinical setting.

Why is it important?
Beam delivery time impacts patient throughput and therefore is an important economical factor in proton beam therapy. Beam delivery time may inform patient scheduling at a multi-room facility.
Perspectives
A companion paper elucidating the role of Multi Energy Extraction in shortening beam delivery time is in press.
