Why is it important?

Phytate has a similar activity like bisphosphonates, is a micronutrient from the diet that is found in the seeds of cereals, legumes, and nuts. Their excess is easily metabolized by hydrolisis in the body. Phytate has their activity on pathological calcification (as renal lithiasis) and osteoporosis with a similar mechanism to the bisphosphonates.
