What is it about?

The lasing directions from a resonance structure is usually left-right symmetric. We have shown for the first time that the coupling of two inequivalent modes makes the lasing unidirectional. In the lasing process, one mode is responsible for the radiation, and the other is responsible for providing energy.

Why is it important?

Our findings show that the lasing behavior can be made unidirectional.

Perspectives

I have found a unique mechanism that a selected excitaion from two symmetric modes.
