What is it about?

Aneurysm of ventricular septum is an uncommon cardiac defect which could be located in the muscular or membranous part of the septum. It is well-known in children and adults but is quite rare to be diagnosed in fetuses. We present two cases of ventricular septal aneurysms revealed in utero: a membranous one without any others fetal anomalies and a muscular one associated with severe central nervous system pathology and another heart defect. The latter combination has not been reported previously.

Why is it important?

There are only few publications about ventricular septal aneurysms when the diagnosis was made before the birth. Our experience will provide an additional information about the differential diagnosis and outcome of this anomaly for the specialists in fetal ultrasound.

Perspectives

When we faced with the ventricular septal aneurysm for the first time we were very surprised at how little information it is published about prenatal diagnosis of this anomaly. After the second case in our practice we understood we must share our experience with the colleagues. We hope our work will be hellpfull.
