Traumatic life events are related to depression symptoms. Our study examined whether social support could buffer the relationship between trauma and depression among migrant and nonmigrant men in Kazakhstan.

Why is it important?
Mental health professionals have reported an increase of working men who are seeking mental health services in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Examining protective factors among these men may help clinicians to respond to workers who have experienced trauma and/or depression.
Perspectives
It was a pleasure to write this article and examine data collected by Columbia University. I hope this article provides more information about working men in Kazakhstan and highlights factors that may be useful in mental health services with this population.
