What is it about?

In this work a new nanosorbent: polyamidoamine dendrimer in a silica sol–gel was synthesized and used for the preconcentration, extraction, and determination of citalopram in hospital wastewater, hemodialysis solution, and some drinking water. The method was developed for the hollow fiber solid-phase microextraction technique.

Why is it important?

The hollow fiber solid-phase microextraction technique based on a nanocomposite reinforced sol-gel is a new, simple and effective method for determination of many important compounds.

Perspectives

In this research, a new large-pore dendrimer-functionalized silica material was prepared based on sol–gel technique and injected into a piece of fiber, and the process of in situ gelation was occurred in the fiber to modify it to be an applicable sorbents .
