What is it about?
Our analysis confirms significant effects of a moderate size mountain range on hail distribution. For this purpose, hailstone and lightning data are used and empirical orthogonal function analysis is deployed. The results are useful for hailstorms nowcasting, traffic, an optimized agricultural planning and probably for a better modeling parameterization of ice microphysics over complex terrain.
