What is it about?

Authentic leadership (2007) closely resembles transformational leadership (1985). This study employs various research methods to reveal empirical differences between the two leadership theories, and evidence is added to the continuing investigation as to whether or not authentic leadership provides unnecessary theoretical overlap.

Why is it important?

Leadership is a burgeoning area of scientific inquiry. The current study adds to the literature in a way that will help provide meaningful evidence in the discussion regarding the necessity of redundant leadership theories.

Perspectives

Dr. Rodriguez: Transformational leadership is the model for leadership excellence. Although a valid argument can be made to the contrary, I believe authentic leadership to be a valiant, but unnecessary, attempt at improving upon a well-established model.
