What is it about?

The impact of delopment aid on the growth rates of illiteracy and life expectancy; how results depend on earmarked or disbursed aid, and the use of dynamic methods, and how long the delays of effects are.

Why is it important?

The impact of aid is highly controversial. If we reduce it although it does help the poor we increase inequaliy. If we continue although it does not help we waste money. Therefore we should study this carefully.

Perspectives

Dynamic empirical models looking at effects of disbursed aid show that aid speeds up the growth of life expectancy and illiteracy, sometimes with large time lags and in non-linear ways.
