What is it about?

The novel angularly substituted dibenzoquinolizidinones prepared by us are synthetic analogues of the naturally occurring dibenzoquinolizidines solidaline and zijinlongine.

Why is it important?

The aim of the paper is to further specify the scope of the reaction of homophthalic anhydride with 1-substituted 3,4-dihydroisoquinolines. Thus, the versatility of 1-substituted 3,4-dihydroisoquinolines as synthons for the preparation of fused polyheterocyclics containing bridgehead nitrogen atom is demonstrated by this research once more.

Perspectives

As a former leader of the group of Heterocyclic chemistry at the University of Sofia, I felt encouraged to continue the research work on the reactivity of different enolisable cyclic anhydrides towards cyclic and acyclic imines.
