What is it about?
Seawater might serve as a fresh-water supply for future generations, helping to meet the growing need for clean drinking water. Desalination and waste management using newer and more energy-intensive processes are not viable options in the long term

Why is it important?
Our findings show a Microbial desalination cell (MDC) is the new technology that can treat wastewater, desalinate saltwater, and produce green energy simultaneously
Perspectives
Writing this article was a great pleasure as it has co-authors with whom I have had long-standing collaborations. This article also leads to a deep understanding of Microbial desalination cell technology for wastewater treatment, desalinating saltwater, and producing green energy
