What is it about?
The combined treatment of HeLa cells with cisplatin and digoxin has a synergistic cytotoxic and antiproliferative effect and these effects depend on the activation of the kinase Src.

Why is it important?
This study shows that combined treatment of digoxin and cisplatin is more effective to kill cervix cancer cells and how this happens.
Perspectives
Once shown that cisplatin and digoxin are more effective to kill cervix cancer cells together that each one alone, it would be interesting to see whether the same happens in mice transplanted with tumors. It would be also interesting to unravel the signaling pathway triggered by both drugs to produce imputed effects
