What is it about?

Retinal pigmented epithelial cells are degenerated in retinal diseases . We have studies gene delivery effect on cell survival and have shown over-expression of one master regulator can promote cell adaptation to stress.

Why is it important?

This is the first report on virus mediated delivery of Grp78 gene to primary human retinal pigmented epithelial cells which introduces GRP78 as a key survival factor and useful candidate for future investigations of retinal degeneration.

Perspectives

I am proud of my scientific team who helped me to do such a cutting-edge research in a developing country like Iran with limited facilitation and finance resources. I hope readers find this article novel and well-designed.
