What is it about?

The main purpose of this article is to explore the possibility of signaling pathways connecting changes in intracellular phosphate requirements and phosphate conservation.

Why is it important?

The potential importance of this approach is the possibility it opens up to identify the components of this putative signaling pathway and to possibly manipulate it for therapeutic benefit

Perspectives

Relatively little is known about the body's signaling to preserve phosphate in the body and to shuttle it to where it is needed, for example inside the cells to maintain increased energy metabolism. This paper represents an attempt to clarify events in phosphate homeostasis to further investigation into the ways the body preserves phosphate for metabolic work
