What is it about?

In this study, composite scaffolds have been developed with a combination of polycaprolactone and microcrystalline cellulose. Its main field of application is expected to be bone regeneration. The additive has been proved to increase the stiffness of the scaffolds and, besides, increase bone marrow cells proliferation.

Why is it important?

Besides the development and testing of this composite, the results from this paper aim to be used as a reference for the creation of similar composites based on other matrices and/or additives in order to reach a similar objective: increase the potential of Tissue Engineering for a larger number of applications.
