Why is it important?
It introduces important issues discussed in the 13th International Drainage Workshop of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) on following topics: • measure to improve drainage water Quality; • measure to lower the volume of drainage water; • adoption of design criteria in favour of the environment; • application of alternative drainage methods.
Perspectives
Writing this editorial was a great pleasure to briefly review the important points of 11 papers presented on the special issue. The editorial also presents “A fresh look at drainage for agriculture” which discusses where are we standing now and where are we going to in future agricultural drainage.
