What is it about?

Demonstrates a simple controlled drainage system to temporarily control flooding levels in inundated fields of smallholder farmers to allow for timely field operations without the expensive and extensive drainage systems for implemented by large scale farmers.

Why is it important?

Instances of increased weather extremes is causing unmanageable challenges for smallholder farmers to plan their field operations based on traditional practices. the result is crop loses in the fields due to delayed harvesting and yield destruction. This study offers an option to alleviate this challenge by temporarily managing the inundation levels to allow for field operations on a need basis.
