The three editors who worked most closely with Dick Cotton on his journal Human Mutation offer anecdotes and remembrances of their colleague and friend, who passed away unexpectedly in the summer of 2015.

Why is it important?

Dick's efforts over the last 25 years helped to lay the groundwork for the genetics data revolution we see today. He was a talented organizer and tireless supporter of efforts to advance mutation detection technology and facilitate open sharing of genetic data worldwide. Dick will be greatly missed by a host of scientists as well as family and friends.
