Why is it important?
WHAT THIS STUDY ADDS Shift length is indirectly associated with the quality and safety. Patient-centered care mitigates the negative impact of shift length on the quality and safety. The study provides insight of the importance of structuring the shift length and instills the culture of patient-centered care in order to provide safe, better care quality and more personalized care. WHAT IS THE FUTURE WORK NEEDED Further study is required to explore the level of compensation of patient‐centered care of nurses assigned to work more than 12‐hour shifts or “double shifts”. Other factors were proposed for better explanations of these relationships.

I hope this article will help the policy makers to restructur the duty length and instill the culture of person-centered care.
