What is it about?

It shows that these walls can be used in seismic design despite inherently low amount of damping

Why is it important?

It shows that the the system having nonlinear response is more critical than the actual amount of damping and that nonlinear elastic structural systems with limited damping will produce desirable seismic response.

Perspectives

This research opens up the the opportunity to use precast walls more frequently in seismic regions.
