What is it about?

Half-sandwich ruthenium complexes are being examined as potential anti-cancer active drugs. We have examined a series of compounds made from heterocyclic molecules attached to the ruthenium center stabilized by hydrogen bonding interactions. There are some key substituents which have been identified as essential components for activity to be present.

Why is it important?

If you want to search for a needle in a haystack you need a magnet. In the search for anticancer active molecules, magnets are hard to find. We have identified a few pointers for making half-sandwich molecules that will be active.
