What is it about?

Sarcoidosis affects the heart in approximately 25% of patients. Until now little was known about the prevalence of right ventricular infiltration or scarring in patients with lung sarcoidosis. We used contrast -enhanced magnetic resonance to evaluate right ventricular involvement in patients diagnosed with lung sarcoidosis. In thirty percent of patients with left ventricular sarcoidosis right ventricular involvement was demonstrated. Further studies will demonstrate the prognostic relevance of right ventricular involvement.
