What is it about?

Gas chromatography-mass spectrometric analysis of a substance called “Gambir Sarawak” touted and sold in the internet as a topical aphrodisiac revealed it to be similar to the deadly toad poison called Chansu and West Indian “Love Stone”. Used as a sexual enhancement aid by some of the locals, the solid and liquid samples were found to contain bufotenine, a controlled substance in Singapore, and the major bufadienolides bufalin, bufotalin, cinobufagin and resibufogenin. We debunked its connection to that past important economic produce of this region called gambir which is an extract from the plant Uncaria gambier.
