What is it about?
Range evaluation is a crucial step while porting algorithms into fixed-point hardware. We present a dynamic fixed-point format to compute integer wordlengths adaptively during runtime.

Why is it important?
Proper range analysis plays an important role in the development of fixed-point algorithms for embedded system applications.
Perspectives
Advantages of dynamic fixed-point format are online range adjustment scheme and estimation of tight bounds depending on the range of the data. Thus, it solves the offline range estimation problem of existing simulation based methods and also the issue of overstimation of ranges by state-of-the-art analytical methods.
