What is it about?

Researchers applied a chemical treatment method to study astrocytes in the brain. This will enable imaging of large sections of the brain by using fluorescence microscopy. Here they discuss step-wise methods to prepare sample and perform imaging.

Perspectives

There are several tissue clearing techniques published in the literature. I spent a lot of time trying those techniques to image astrocytes. But this FACT technique was much simpler than all the other techniques and worked quite well with imaging of astrocytes. We wanted to provide a detailed step-wise protocol to the research community so that they can perform measurement of astrocytes in much simpler and faster way. We hope this protocol will be helpful for many researchers working in the field of astrocyte biology and neuroscience.
