What is it about?

The photophysics of a molecular system is discussed which is based on the popular BODIPY chromophore and the less used expanded acridinium cation.

Why is it important?

Less molecular systems are known based on expanded acridinium cations (EAC) but they offer more than the standard acridinium unit. We are building up a comprehensive picture of EAC systems for their application in solar cells.

Perspectives

The work is a joint venture with a group in Tampere (Finland).
