What is it about?

The current study presents a novel method to quickly compensate the beat-to-beat physiological adaptation of the myocardium, dividing the myocardial motion estimation techniques in two stages: 1) tracking of the myocardium using the boundary positions only and 2) estimation of the entire myocardial wall using interpolation and diffusion strategies.

Why is it important?

Since the myocardial wall motion uses a small number of points to estimate motion and diffuse/interpolate for the remaining positions, a fast estimation of the myocardial wall is possible consequently showing potential for fast adaptation of the myocardial wall throughout cardiac guided interventions.
