Contrast optimized micro X-ray computed tomography (mCT) allows for the fist time three dimensional visualization of single neurons of insect brain tissue.

Why is it important?

The paper notes several advantages of mCT preparations as far as the insect nervous tissue is concerned. All large L-Neurons are visible and can be traced in one and the same animal and mor improtantly can togehter and individually be visualized in 3D.
