What is it about?
In this study, NSs were synthesized as a product of a condensation polymerization reaction to remove p-NP from aqueous solutions. The effects of the cross-linker concentration, cross-linker type and temperature on the NS synthesis reaction were studied. The most important parameters affecting the adsorption capacity of the NSs were the β-CD/cross-linker molar ratio and cross-linker type. The reaction temperature did not have a significant effect on the NS adsorption efficiency. The obtained hexagonal, insoluble, and rigid NS particles exhibited high adsorption capacities and short adsorption times toward p-NP. The experimental results imply that the NSs area promising adsorbent for organic pollutants.
