What is it about?

When to stent a renal patient is a controversial topic. Our project was aimed at addressing the issue. We selected patients with chronic kidney disease who received stent(s) for Non-ST elevation myocardial infarction using national database. Whether performing the procedure early has adverse outcomes is unknown.

Why is it important?

Our study shows that the timing of stent placement did not increase for dialysis or mortality in short-term. In fact, those who underwent early, had lower associated hospital charges and reduced length of stay.

Perspectives

We hope that our study provides a platform for further discussion and prospective trials to address the controversial issue of timing of intervention in renal patients.
