What is it about?

Previously no polymorphs for Tolazamide was reported despite the chemical family of sulfonylureas was known as a rich example of polymorphism. In this study we have shown how incredibly different crystal packing can be isoenergetic! We also showed how contradictory experimental and theoretical results can make one good story with broad explanation. Besides, the present work employs a broad and in-depth analysis that includes the use of optical microscopy, single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction, IR and Raman spectroscopies, DSC, semiempirical PIXEL calculations and DFT of three polymorphs of tolazamide

Why is it important?

It is first example of Tolazamide polymorphism. Two new polymorphs were obtained. Very broad and in-depth study with the variety of methods was done. It has showed that even contradictory experimental results can be explained with one idea if study is broad and good enough.

Perspectives

More data can be produced on form III of Tolazamide. Maybe one can corellate these results and results of his own work. New polymorphs might be cought.
