Why is it important?

Accurate diagnosis and treatment is needed in rural and resource limited settings for tropical infections including for pregnant women. Fetal effects can be devastating as observed in this case.

Perspectives

Rosie has worked for more than 20 years in rural and resource limited settings. Infection in pregnancy is important for the complication created directly for the mother and also for the next generation. Interest in diagnostics for many tropical infections remains under-researched.
