Why is it important?
This case incidated that close monitoring of haematological values was necessary before and during the treatment of chronic HCV with inferon and ribavirin.
Perspectives
Our case incidated that severe autoimmune hemolytic anemia can be triggered by pegylated interferon during combination therapy for chronic HCV, and that direct antiviral drugs may be an optimal choice for chronic hepatitis C patients who experience virologic failure after IFN-based treatment.
