What is it about?
A small caliber or significant tortuosity of radial artery may create difficulty in negotiating a 6F or 7F guide catheter while performing intervention through transradial approach. We describe a technique that helps tracking a guide catheter in such demanding situation for successful completion of procedure without increasing the chance of perforation and dissection.

The protruded balloon eliminates the razor effect of diagnostic or guide catheter during passage through small, tortuous or calcified arterial segment. This increases overall success rate of diagnostic catheterization and intervention done through TRA

BAT technique is popular world wide amongst the radialists. It has been used extensively to address passage through small RA , extreme tortuosity of radial brachial and subclavian region, selected radial and brachial and subclavian loops as well as working through the perforations of RA. This technique is simple to use and easily reproducible. In nutshell, BAT is an elegant technique worth keeping in the armamentarium for any radialist.
