What is it about?

Neuronal survival or death in brain pathologies depends on a variety of interrelated molecular mechanisms. Our data indicate the existence of an association between NCAM- and HIF-mediated signaling in the processes of cell neurodegeneration and resistance to oxygen and glucose deficiency.

Why is it important?

These data extend our knowledge of neurodegeneration mechanisms and open additional potential for the study of neuroprotective agents.

Perspectives

The understanding of the endogenous mechanisms may open additional opportunities for the development of integrated strategies in neuroprotection.
