What is it about?

Digital literacy and information literacy have their place in treating information overload (IO) and information architects should digitally literate to be able to mitigate the symptoms of IO. On the other hand, users should have awareness of structures and architecture of information.

Why is it important?

Gatekeeping (that is pre-selecting information for the end user) has lost ground, but the situation can be amended. One element of this is the requirement of having consciousness and critical approaches towards information, and this is an obligation not only for information users, but for information architects.
