What is it about?

We have shown the spending on CSR and cash holidng of the CPSE of India. The key finding: higher CSR spending was associated with a higher cash ratio. In other words, CPSEs that invested more in CSR tended to keep stronger liquidity buffers.

the results imply that CSR programs and prudent cash management are not at odds; they can reinforce each other. The study also fills a gap by examining actual CSR expenditure (rather than CSR scores) in a mandatory-CSR setting, and it opens the door for future work on private firms and other industries.
