What is it about?

This study has shown that a minor change to molecular structure can give remarkable impact on chemical reactions, especially on product selectivity of photochemical reactions in this particular example.

Why is it important?

Product selectivity is not discussed in photochemical reactions as often as in thermal reactions. Our current study has shown that high selectivity in stereochemistry of products can be obtained in a photochemical reaction with a help of a few structural features such as constraint of rotational freedom.
