What is it about?

The release of extracellular vesicles (EVs) depends on cell activation, cell stress, cell properties, and dying of cells; therefore, we have used the amount of released EVs for the identification of cell condition during the bioprocess. Our results have shown that EVs concentration reflects conditions in bioreactor and provide new information of the bioprocess state. EV concentration is suggested to be a new and important parameter for the monitoring of industrial bioprocesses.

Why is it important?

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) have an important role in disease pathogenesis. Recognition of their role in a variety of diseases mostly stimulates their investigation for clinical purposes. In this article, we are studying EVs from a different point of view - we present EVs as a new factor in bioprocess monitoring. We have used the amount of released EVs for the identification of cell condition during the bioprocess. Our results have shown that EVs concentration reflects conditions in bioreactor and provide new information of the bioprocess state. Therefore, we suggest EVs concentration as new important parameter for assessing the bioprocesses.
