Effects of Presession Pairing on the Challenging Behavior and Academic Responding of Children with Autism

What is it about?

We sought to determine what effect, if any, playing with the learner and having fun with preferred items at the place of instruction would have on the learner's compliance and acquisition of new material.

Why is it important?

Children with autism require intensive teaching. With increased demands, the chances of challenging behavior occurring rises dramatically. If we can reduce behaviors that interfere with learning, we can maximize teaching, and create teaching opportunities learners seek out, rather than avoid.
