What is it about?

Sea surface temperature (SST) is generally considered affecting the Indian summer monsoon rainfall (ISMR). This paper proves that ocean layer mean temperature is a better predictor for ISMR prediction.

Why is it important?

A new and better oceanographic parameter for ISMR prediction.

Perspectives

This article is sort of proof of concept for using ocean layer mean temperature in place of SST for a better prediction of monsoons.
