What is it about?

The review considers the performance of various types of hybrid organic-inorganic sulfonic resin catalysts: mixed and co-precipitated composites, loaded and tailored systems. A comprehensive analysis of catalytic properties of these catalysts in alcohols etherification compared with bulk sulfonic resins shows that the localization of acid sites determines their productivity because of a difference in the accessibility of acid sites for reagents.
