The impact of intracellular Staphylococcus aureus in chronic rhinosinusitis

What is it about?

Chronic sinusitis is a common inflammatory condition that is often associated with infection. Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) is one of the most commonly found bacteria during sinus infection. It is known that S. aureus is able to hide and survive within host cells in order to escape from host immune detection and eradication. This study examined the impact of intracellular S. aureus in chronic sinusitis, specifically in patients that had sinus operation, whether it is associated with worsen disease severity and earlier relapse.
