What is it about?
Separation processes at microscale are an essential way toward process intensification. In this paper, a comprehensive numerical investigation on membrane distillation of methanol and water in a microseparator was carried out. The focus was to investigate the impact of the apparatus geometry on the separation performance and to develop alternative designs for process intensification. The modeling was supported by experimental studies.

Why is it important?
Both the methodology and the investigation results are important. They give understanding of how to describe and improve microchannel contactors
Perspectives
This is avery comprehensive study comprising several complementary modeling, simulation and expermental steps. This will be a good example of how to investigate a problem in full scale
