Why is it important?

It is important to filter out the temporary sales prices from retail price data using the filter that that tests for asymmetry in price transmission would not be biased.

Perspectives

Retail scanner data are becoming available to scientific research. Scanner data are used in many fields including vertical price transmission. Since this field of research is new. There are still need for further research to understand how price are transmitted at the smallest possible scale, such as at the store level of the value chain.
