What is it about?

Most conventionally prepared hydrogels contain 90% water held in a polymer network, and can easily break apart like a jelly. Gong et al. discovered that the addition of a second polymer to the gel made them so tough and flexible that rivaled cartilage. Their tough and flexible double network gels could be an attractive candidate for cartilage replacement.
