3D in vitro model of fibrosis in pancreatic cancer to study drug delivery

This paper reports the construction of an in vitro pancreatic cancer model recapitulating the desmoplastic reaction induced by tumor/fibroblast crosstalk.

Why is it important?

Fibrosis is an important determinant of drug delivery (and thus therapeutic efficacy) in pancreatic cancer, but studying drug delivery in animal tissue is difficult to perform at a large scale. We thus devised a simple 3D co-culture model of pancreatic cancer fibrosis that enables the analysis of drug delivery.
